Spectre in the Mist

Named after a foggy peak in the Harz Mountains in
Germany, a Brocken spectre occurs when your
shadow is magnified upon clouds or mist.

Inspired by this idea of a shadowy, ghost-like version

of oneself, Spectre in the Mist is all about self-
discovery. The music begins with a lone trombone

playing a wistful 4-note motif. This motif changes
throughout the track as it attempts to understand
itself. By the end of the piece the motif has become
the primary figure in a melody, signaling its success
in discovering, and accepting, its true self.
